After enjoying breakfast in our hotel, we left the the city center for some hours to head to the enchanting Matka Canyon. This hidden gem greets us with towering cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and a tranquil Matka Lake.
To get there, we opted for a taxi ride, which was surprisingly affordable and took away all the hassles. Our friendly driver even waited for us, making it a stress-free journey that allowed us to soak in the picturesque views! 🚣
A Stroll through Ottoman History in the Old Bazaar 🕌
Back in the heart of Skopje, we continued our day with a journey through time in the Old Bazaar. It is the oldest bazar in the Balkans with an Ottoman-style architecture that will transport you back to a bygone era. Enjoy the cobbled streets and absorb the rich cultural heritage.
We had some great lunch here at Kaj Serdarot, one of the must-tries being in North-Macedonia are definetely the Macedonian Style Baked Beans, after enjoying lunch we felt energized and ready to explore the city.

Just after leaving the Old Bazaar, you will come across the iconic Stone Bridge, which will connect you to the vibrant Macedonia Square. The statues, fountains, and lively atmosphere reflected the city's dynamic spirit.
What truly caught our attention were the remarkable statues scattered throughout these squares and lining the streets. They were massive and so cool to see! These statues stand as testaments to the city's rich history and cultural heritage, bringing the past and present together in a captivating way. It felt like walking through an open-air museum, where each statue had a story to tell. From legendary figures to national heroes, the artistry and grandeur of these statues left us in awe, giving Skopje an extra touch of wonder and uniqueness. 🌉🗿

With a wide array of options, including plenty of veggie-friendly choices, we indulged in sizzling fajitas, cheesy quesadillas, and spicy enchiladas - a true fiesta of flavors! 🌮
